Food Transport of Florida

The founder of Food Transport of Florida, Thomas (Tom)Woods has been in the foodservice industry almost all of his professional career.

Tom started out as a bag boy at Publix Supermarkets as a young manin Miami. He quickly moved up the ranks of the store and worked

his way up to Produce Manager.

Crime had gotten pretty bad in South Florida and Tom, wanting a better life for his family decided to give up his job working for a

company that frequently ranked in the top 100 jobs in Florida at that time, moved to North Florida and started his own foodservice

Brokerage company. Tom grew his company over the next 20 plus years employing several family members as well as many local

salespeople. His biggest customer sold their business, leaving Tom needing to find a new career.

Tom started a foodservice grocery store in Jacksonville called Foodservice Depot. Unfortunetly, that company was started with a

partner and was never able to be funded properly. This business would have worked really well if they had the money to make it

work. You can see a very similar business in Jacksonville called Restaurant Depot. They seem to be doing very well.

After splitting ways with his business partner, Tom was able to reconnect with his previous business contacts and was able to start

a trucking company. He started running from Florida to South Carolina and back for C.F. Sauer Company. Tom got tired of long

hauls and was able to use another relationship from his brokerage days to get contracts with Hormel Foods. The Hormel contracts

allowed Tom to stay in Florida, Which is where we are today!

After several moves Food Transport of Florida was able to procure a warehouse in Orlando Florida.

We have a 10,000 sq ft warehouse with coolers and freezers. We have several trucks covering central and north Florida.

We now receive LTLs, Truckloads, Restacks (Load Shift Repair), Breakdown Orders for faster deliveries.
